Windham Properties, LLC Mineral Extraction Project
Intersection of Nash Road and Route 302
Overview
Windham Properties, LLC is applying for a permit from the Town of Windham to locate a mineral extraction project (a.k.a. quarry) at the intersection of Nash Road and Route 302.
Permitting Requirements
The mineral extraction application must receive Site Plan approval from the Town of Windham Planning Board.
The project must also satisfy the requirements of Sec. 140-33 of the Land Use Ordinance. This section specifically regulates mineral extraction operations in the Town. Both the Planning Board and Town Council must review and approval the application under the standards of Sec. 140-33.
In addition to Town approval, the mineral extraction application must also be authorized by the State of Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
Permitting Process
Planning Board:
The Windham Properties, LLC application was submitted to the Planning Board on July 9th, 2007. The application received both Site Plan approval and Sec. 140-33 approval on August 27th, 2007.
Town Council:
On Friday, January 25th, 2008, Windham Properties submitted the required application for Sec. 140-33 review to the Town Council. The Council has not set a review schedule at this time.
