Windham Recycles!

WHAT CAN I RECYCLE?
NOTE: #2 plastic bags that you receive at Hannaford, Wal-Mart, Shaws, or those protective sleeves that our newspapers come in are
RECYCLABLE

Anything that is recyclable at the "silver bullet" drop-off recycling centers is recyclable under the Town's curbside recycling program:

  • Paper: newspapers, magazines, catalogs, phone books, old mail, greeting cards, flyers, brochures, envelopes, manila folders, postcards, and paper bags.

  • Paperboard: clean food boxes with liners removed (i.e., cereal boxes, rice mix boxes, etc.), paper towel tubes, writing pad backs, medicine and toiletry boxes.

  • Corrugated cardboard: boxes need to be broken down; pieces should be no larger than 3x3 feet.

  • Glass, cans, and aluminum: metal food and beverage containers, aluminum foil, aerosol cans with lids removed, clear and colored glass bottles and jars. Containers do not need to be rinsed out, but will help reduce odor if you do. Labels do not have to be removed.

  • Plastics: all plastics with the number 1 through 7 in the recycling symbol usually found on the bottom of the container; for example, plastic milk jugs, laundry detergent, and shampoo bottles.
  • Holiday Wrapping Paper: See our special section about Holiday paper here.

Hints:

  • Sorting is not necessary.
  • Crush plastic bottles and jugs to save space in your bin.
  • Please keep paper, paperboard, and cardboard inside if it's raining or snowing

Need more recycling bins? They are available at Windham Public Works at 185 Windham Center Road for only $6.00. Please call 892-1909 for more information
