Planning Department

Department Overview

The Planning Department is responsible for conducting long-range studies and producing reports on various issues related to development and transportation.  The Department also assists the Planning Board with the review of development proposals.

Upcoming Public Meetings

Monday, July 20th, 2009 - 7:00 p.m.

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 - 7:00 p.m.

Meetings will be held at Town Hall in the Council Chambers, and will be televised on Channel 7

Highlights of the proposed amendments include reformatting and reorganization of the existing documents, revised procedures for the review of development applications, and updated standards for the construction of public and private roads.

Copies of the proposed updates to the Land Use Ordinance may be downloaded from the Ordinance Update Committee page on this website; viewed at the Planning/Codes/Assessing Office, the Clerk's Office, or the Windham Public Library; or purchased/ordered from the Planning Department for $10.00 (+ postage).

N. Windham/Route 302 Traffic Study
(Posted May 22, 2009)

The department is working with Gorrill-Palmer Consulting Engineers and is aiming to hold the project's first public meeting in June, 2009.  Meetings will be advertised on this site, in the newspaper and invitations will be mailed to all property owners on Route 302 and to neighborhood associations in the area.

Note: The study area is between White's Bridge Rd. and Mineral Springs Rd.

 

Vernal Pool Mapping Project

Volunteers are completing field work and obversation results will be submitted to the University of Maine over the next several weeks.  For more information, please contact the Planning Department.
